WRITING FOR BUSINESS

Organise an in-house private course

This is the way most organisations choose to work with us. You get to choose the workshop, nominate who you want to sit the session and fix a time and date that suits everyone. We do the rest – even down to tweaking the training to match your specific needs. All we need is a bit of information about you so click the organise button to get the ball rolling.

Price From £799 per session

One-to-one training

Just you and the trainer’s undivided attention. Some people prefer to sit our courses on their own. Click the button to tell us a bit about yourself and suggest a date.

Coaching and mentoring

Maybe you don’t want or need a full training course but would like a little help. Or maybe you’d like a lot of help. Either way coaching and mentoring could be the answer. Tell us more and we’ll be in touch.

Price £199 for first hour, £99/hr thereafter

Too much business writing is still formulaic, flowery or, worse still, both. It uses words nobody understands - least of all the writer. And lacks clarity and creativity. It doesn't have to be this way. If you want to write right this course is a must.

It's aimed mainly at those who're writing for print. If you're writing largely online content then our writing for the web course may be more suitable. If you're writing for the spoken word you may want to book on our presentation skills or media training courses. Or of you're writing press release then, you've guessed, our writing press releases course may be better!

But after all that if you're still here this workshop will arm you with some simple techniques to radically improve the quality and results of your writing.

CONTENT

It'll come as no surprise to hear you'll be putting pen to paper, or rather fingers to keyboard, during this practical course. By the end you'll have written several pieces and learned how to:

  • Set a clear objective.
  • Build a logical structure.
  • Get your key messages across.
  • Choose an appropriate style.
  • Establish and build rapport.
  • Keep readers reading.
  • Make your writing more readable.
  • Write confidently and clearly.
  • Construct sound, clear sentences.
  • Use punctuation logically and helpfully.
  • Be sure of your grammar.
  • Leave a positive last impression.
  • Find the right style.
  • Focus on the reader.
  • Change your perspective.
  • Get the words right.
  • Boost readability.
  • Get closer to the reader.
  • Write effective introductions.
  • Decide what to keep and what to delete.
  • Edit and proof.

FACILITATOR

Your facilitator will be the former BBC broadcaster, Richard Uridge. He's been leading our media and communication workshops for the past 25 years and has been a journalist for 40. Which means he's highly experienced (as well as ancient) both as a trainer and as a writer - a combination of huge value to his trainees.

IN HOUSE

This workshop is available for in-house delivery which is cost effective if you've got more than a few people who need training with the added advantage that course content can be tailored to your specific organisational needs. Contact the trainer to discuss your requirements.
