World Cup Cliché Generator

If there's a bandwagon rolling through town we love to jump on it at ACM Training. So with World Cup fever reaching, well, fever(ish) pitch, we bring you our no-expense-spared cliché generator. It's like Russian roulette without the gun. Or the bullets for that matter.

As my old editor used to say: "Avoid clichés like the plague." So click the button to fire a new quote.

I have a lot of sympathy for sports commentators who, in the high tempo atmosphere of a game, don't have time to craft an original turn of phrase so, literally for want of a better word (or words), fall back on the hackneyed old expressions listed above. The rest of us, however, should avoid them lest we're accused of being lazy and unoriginal, as I was back in my cub reporter days. So how, for example, do you manage to find the juste mot - look it up - in the heat of a media interview or presentation? By booking onto one of our media training workshops, of course, and learning how to stay ice cool under pressure even when you're being Paxman'd or, as we must now learn to say, Madeley'd.

Simply to celebrate England's presence at Russia 2018 we're offering 10% off not just our media training workshops but all our public courses until the end of the tournament. If they get to the knockout stage we'll increase that to 15%. If they get to the quarter finals it'll be 20%, rising to 25% for the semis. And if the Three Lions make it all the way to the final and win then we'll be offering five lucky trainees 50% off (plus an alka seltzer for our bank manager).

To book your discount place click here, select the workshop, date and venue of your choice and enter "WorldCup2018" (without the quote marks) in the promotional code box on our booking page. It's our way of saying...

...from Russia with love!
