AIM

This one-day training course is designed to help managers, supervisors and leaders develop the essential skills to influence and motivate staff and colleagues to achieve exceptional performance. It is especially ideal for those who may have taken on such a role without any formal training, but will also assist those who have been managing for some time.

OBJECTIVES

By the end of this workshop, through practical activities, group discussion, case study, debate and individual participation, delegates should achieve the following objectives:

1/Gain greater understanding of a leader's responsibilities, by appreciating the principles of leadership, the attributes of effective leaders and how to lead and influence others;

2/Create and maintain an efficient, effective, and motivated team, by understanding the principles of motivation and how to apply them to your team, and how to recognise the factors that affect motivation;

3/Maximise your team's performance, by understanding human behaviour and focusing on the needs of the individual and the team, building productive relationships with others, developing rapport with different personalities, knowing how to give and receive feedback, giving instructions and stating expectations clearly;

4/Improve your ability to communicate with the team, your clients and partners, by understanding the decision making process, and making decisions with confidence, saying what you mean, and meaning what you say, knowing when and how to delegate, and how to approach problem-solving;

5/Strengthen your techniques for managing the performance of the team, by knowing and how to evaluate, reprimand and counsel staff, undertake performance reviews and implement performance expectations objectively.
