So often team meetings, project get-togethers or away days are ruined because the person facilitating the session belongs to the same organisation so can't be expected to perform objectively. In short, they find it very difficult not to become involved. Sometimes, the only way to go forward is to bring in an outsider to help the team progress and address the issues at hand, to help deal with conflicts that may arise and to suggest strategies for helping the group generate and evaluate ideas and then make decisions.
